What we offer

Plastic and cosmetic surgery

Plastic and cosmetic surgery are both tools individuals can use to significantly improve aspects of their appearance, that can contribute to an improved sense of well-being and can also provide a boost to self-confidence. It is for these reasons that increasing numbers of people are turning to these types of surgery and are enjoying the benefits they can bring.

The scope of the two disciplines of plastic and cosmetic surgery is different which is explained below.

What is plastic surgery?

Plastic surgery is a discipline involving reconstructive procedures that aim to restore a part of the body that has been seriously impaired by some kind of trauma be that an accident or illness. Examples include post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, post-melanoma and skin tumor reconstruction or injury caused by a road accident or an industrial incident.

What is cosmetic surgery?

Cosmetic surgery on the other hand consists of corrective procedures which include facelifts, rhinoplasty (nose reshaping), liposuction all of which are focused on removing or minimizing those natural physical defects – even the really small ones - which the patients feels impedes their general state of the physical, social and most crucially, mental well-being.

Surgery – the motivating factors

Often at the root of what drives a patient to consult a plastic / cosmetic surgeon are the underlying psychological factors attached to the perceived physical deformity or imperfection however slight it may be. In some cases, an individual may have lived for many years with a pronounced aspect of their appearance that brought unwanted attention and dented their confidence. Surgery can bring dramatic changes to the individuals overall confidence and appearance.

For others, age, post-pregnancy or a traumatic event can all be the triggers that mean they no longer identify with their bodies and wish to restore themselves to their former glory.

Plastic and cosmetic surgery can restore confidence, self-esteem and a feeling of physical and emotional well-being to people in a variety of circumstances and for different reasons.

What are the risks associated with surgery?

Thousands of operations of the type you might be considering are performed successfully all over the world every year and more specifically, have been performed by Professor Dini many times with excellent results.

Once you have found a highly skilled and professional surgeon like Professor Dini, operating in the best facilities, with top nursing and post-operative care, you can be assured that your exposure to risk really is minimal.

There are certain things that you can do as the patient to reduce the risk of complications during or after surgery and these will be carefully explained to you by the clinic team.

The Marylebone Clinic approach to plastic and cosmetic surgery

The Marylebone Clinic approach is tailored to each individual taking close and careful account of age, weight, medical history and suitability for the procedure.

Factors in a patient’s physical condition such as high blood pressure or problems with blood clotting will be considered carefully if they are likely to jeorpardise the individual’s health during surgery or will impact its effectiveness.

Before any operation, you will receive detailed information on a pre and post operative diet and advice on the use of medication, alcohol and cigarettes.

The majority of operations are carried out under general anesthetic but some can be done under local anesthetic with sedation (which means you will be awake but relaxed and insensitive to pain). Please discuss the options available to you in your consultation.

All surgical procedures will be carried out by Professor Dini, any additional consultations required pre or post procedure may be with Dr Brazzini and your nurse practioner.

Please note that Professor Dini will assess your suitability for surgery in your first consultation and reserves the right to refuse further treatment if he feels it is not appropriate on the grounds of health or other reasons.

Clinical and aesthetic dermatology

Skin is the mirror of our body and it can show the outside world the state of our physical health and overall state of well-being. Skin disorders are very frequent and though rarely life-threatening, they can represent an important source of discomfort that can compromise both the personal and social life of a patient if left untreated.

Dermatologists aim to restore the health of an individual by curing skin disease and also by correcting cosmetic imperfections such as scars, birthmarks and signs of ageing.

What is clinical dermatology?

Clinical dermatology is the treatment of skin disease. In our clinic we specialize in the treatment of many skin disorders such as acne, atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis, lichen planus, urticaria, contact dermatitis, allergic reactions, vitiligo, warts, hair and nail disorders, moles, skin tags, seborhoeic warts, milia and various other infectious disease of the skin. We also provide early diagnosis of skin cancer and skin cancer treatments.

What is cosmetic dermatology?

Physical attractiveness plays a key role in modern life and there is an expectation to look good for your age and to delay the visible signs of ageing for as long as possible. This isn’t easy to do with skin creams alone and this is where cosmetic dermatology can help by treating the outwards signs of ageing and skin imperfections such as wrinkles, pigmentation, age spots, sun damage, broken veins, acne scars, muscle sagging and skin coarseness.

What cosmetic treatments are available to me?

Our clinic offers the latest rejuvenation techniques for face, neck, décolleté, and hands, including dermal fillers, botox, chemical peels, skin tightening, non-ablative skin resurfacing, laser treatment for solar lentigo and vascular disorders (broken veins, angiomas ect.), numerous treatments for acne scaring, keloids, cellulite and localized fat (mesotherapy and liposculpture), tattoos and hair removal.

The Marylebone Clinic approach

At the Marylebone Clinic, we perform a wide range of treatments using the latest techniques and technology where appropriate. Before beginning any treatment, each patient is assessed individually in their initial consultation with our dermatologist, Dr Brazzini or by our highly skilled nursing team to determine the best and most appropriate way forward for them.

Our team is very experienced and highly qualified to perform all clinical and cosmetic dermatological procedures using the latest techniques in our clinic.

We would urge all patients to proceed with extreme caution if considering any of the procedures mentioned in this section in a spa, beauty salon or other non-specialist environment with non-medically trained technicians.
